Trinity United Reformed Church
Wigan, Greater Manchester
Trinity United Reformed Church is one of the more modern church buildings that we have worked on.
As with most of the churches we work on, one of the major complaints was that the light levels were too low for the congregation to be able to read prayer books and hymn books.
The steep angled, high, wooden slatted ceiling provided an interesting challenge for Lumenata Lighting Design - a challenge we were more than up to overcoming.
Our proposal was to use a dimmable, surface mounted linear LED light to illuminate the congregation from above.
This was mixed with special effect lighting to downlight feature walls and uplight the ceiling, which is a major feature of the building.
Scene setting lighting controls were also added to the scheme allowing different moods to be created for different events in the church at the simple touch of a button.
The final result was increased lighting levels using dimmable lights that could be controlled with ease.
