Lumenata Lighting Design threw down the gauntlet to Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support small businesses through the recession during an official visit to Lancashire. Director Paul Hindle was one of 50 business leaders and community representatives invited to take part in a recent live forum with the Prime Minister at the Lancashire Evening Post offices in Fulwood, Preston. He said the government was supporting big businesses and asked how Gordon Brown planned help smaller firms to survive the difficult economic climate. Paul’s question was one of 12 chosen by Gordon Brown’s team to be answered during the session and the Prime Minister responded by pledging more help for small businesses from the banks. Paul said: “Not many people have the chance of an audience with the Prime Minister, so I made the most of the opportunity to challenge Gordon Brown on the need for more support for small businesses. “These are tough times for small firms, so I was encouraged by his response and hope he will be as good as his word.”
